Our subcommittees are where the magic of INHSEA happens; below are descriptions for their responsibilities.
EDUCATION
The Education Subcommittee is committed to providing high-quality learning assets for association members and industry professionals.
This subcommittee develops guidelines for curriculum, teaching INHSEA classes, workshops, and resources for each subcommittee and approves the submissions to ensure alignment with satisfactory teaching protocol.
Facilitates teaching workshops for educators of each subcommittee prior to external training and ensures each instructor is equipped and ready to teach on behalf of INHSEA.

LOCTICIANS
The Loctician Subcommittee provides specialized education, resources, and support for professionals doing and specializing in locs.
They are dedicated to the art and science of loc maintenance, care and styling. They educate professionals and consumers on the former and product selections through in-person classes and online workshops.
This group uplifts and sets industry standards while fostering innovation in loc care techniques to ensure excellence in service and client satisfaction across our industry.
SCALP CARE / HAIR LOSS
Scalp Care / Hair Loss Subcommittee provides specialized education, resources, and support for professionals in the textured hair industry.
The Trichology Subcommittee bridges the gap between hair care and scalp health, offering education on the science of hair and scalp conditions. Educating members and other professionals on the extent and boundaries of our knowledge as first responders and what is within our capacity to serve our community well as it pertains to scalp care and hair loss.
This subcommittee collaborates with industry experts and board-certified dermatologists who specialize in hair loss to provide research-based insights on hair growth, scalp disorders, and wellness treatments, ensuring that professionals can confidently address hair concerns with knowledge and integrity.
This subcommittee provides education to professionals through in-person classes and online workshops, covering key topics and trusted product recommendations to address scalp health concerns and hair loss. Our goal is to equip professionals with the knowledge and tools to create a safe, effective, and compassionate environment for clients in need of specialized scalp care.
BRAIDERS
Braiders Subcommittee provides specialized education, resources, and support for professionals in the textured hair industry.
The Braiders Subcommittee is dedicated to preserving and advancing the artistry of braiding by providing education on safe techniques, cultural significance, and professional standards. Through in-person classes and online workshops they educate professionals and consumers on the former along with proper product selection.
NATURAL HAIR
Natural Hair Subcommittee provides specialized education, resources, and support for professionals in the textured hair industry.
The Natural Hair Subcommittee focuses on the care, styling, and empowerment of those with textured hair.
This subcommittee educates professionals and consumers on product selection, maintenance routines, and innovative styling techniques while advocating for the acceptance and celebration of all natural textures in professional and personal spaces.
NUTRITION & ERGONOMICS
The Nutrition & Ergonomics subcommittee provides specialized education, resources, and support for professionals in the textured hair industry.
As advocates for the connection between the professional’s wellness and client care, this subcommittee educates industry professionals and the community on the role of diet and hydration in maintaining overall well-being. Promoting education surrounding internal health for stronger, healthier hair.
This subcommittee provides guidance to professionals on preventing work-related strain through posture and body mechanics while increasing the longevity of our professionals careers.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Community Outreach Subcommittee provides specialized education, resources, and support for professionals in INHSEA who are looking to lead community efforts in the textured hair industry.
Our mission is to strengthen and expand the reach of the International Natural Hair Standards and Education Association by fostering meaningful connections inside and outside of the natural hair industry. We are committed to increasing membership, enhancing brand visibility and trust, and ensuring continuous engagement through strategic outreach efforts. By cultivating relationships with donors, hosting impactful events, and maintaining open communication with our members, we aid in creating a thriving, supportive network dedicated to the elevation of natural hair education and advocacy.
Through collaboration and engagement, we aim to build a lasting community of trusted professionals who collectively champion the beauty, culture, and empowerment of naturally textured and loc’d hair in a unified manner internationally.
STATE REGULATIONS & HISTORIAN
State Regulations & Historian Subcommittee provides specialized education, resources, and support for professionals in the textured hair industry.
The State Regulations & Historian Subcommittee ensures that natural hair professionals remain informed about licensing requirements and industry laws.
This subcommittee also preserves the history of natural hair care by documenting cultural influences, professional milestones, and advocacy efforts for fair regulations, accessibility for professionals, and efforts that shape the industry’s evolution. Ensuring our members and the general public have access to documented truth about the influence and history of natural hair stylists on our communities and the impact of this art on our culture AND its influence on the world.
Advocating against laws and policies that restrict or hinder the professional from practicing our sacred ancestral art freely, without an unnecessary burden or regulation from government.
TECHNOLOGY
The Technology Subcommittee focuses on integrating digital tools and innovations to enhance communication, business operations, and outreach.
This subcommittee develops solutions to increase accessibility and engagement for members while ensuring the organization operates efficiently and securely in the digital space.
Additionally, the subcommittee is responsible for managing user access to internal applications, creating and deleting email accounts while maintaining governance over them, and ensuring password protection protocols are in place.
The subcommittee advises on software solutions to improve organizational efficiency, troubleshoots technical issues, and maintains a system guide that documents current software, applications, and user access. While holding in-person classes and online workshops that teach members how to use the technology needed to maintain their membership while educating professionals on the latest technology that can aide them in enhancing their client experience and their businesses.
